JOE LEADER

As an expert on very light jets and next generation air taxis with the first business Ph.D. dissertation worldwide on the subjects, Joe Leader worked with industry leaders in forming the Air Taxi Association (ATXA) and now serves as its President. With more than a dozen years of executive experience at both entrepreneurial and multi-billion dollar companies, Leader uses the combination of his professional and academic expertise to build bridges across the industry.

Leader’s air-taxi-focused research book entitled “Takeoff Velocity: The Air Taxi and VLJ Impact on the Future of Business Travel,” is being published and will be available in 2008 via retailers online including Amazon.com, Amazon.com.uk, Borders, Target, and Walden Books.

 

PHILIP BUTTERWORTH-HAYES

Broadcaster, consultant and editorial director of PMi Media Ltd. He is a former editor of Interavia Aerospace Review, Airports International, Jane’s Aircraft Component Manufacturers and Jane’s Military Aircraft  - and an aviation consultant to BBC Television - he began his career in journalism and broadcasting after graduating from the University of Hull (UK) as a radio and magazine reporter in Khartoum, Sudan, following several years as a lecturer and teacher in the Middle East. He ran a cargo charter airline service between the Middle East and Europe before joining Jane’s Information Group in 1986, becoming the founding editor of Jane's World Airlines and Jane's Airport Review. He writes on airline and aerospace issues for The Wall Street Journal and since 1992 has been the European Correspondent for Aerospace America, the journal of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Most recently he has served as director of strategy and communications of the Civil Air Navigation Organisation (CANSO) in Amsterdam, a post he left in November 2007. He now works full time as the editorial director of PMi Media, an Anglo-German aerospace publishing and consultancy company.

 

RODNEY  BOTTS
Commercial Flight training executive with expertise in the enabling  strategies, process designs and appropriate technological decision metrics  that have produced highly qualified flight training team menbers for  Northwest Airlines, Federal Express and American Airlines.  Mr. Botts  advises colleges and new business startups on the appropriate strategies, process designs and enabling technology that will enable their flight training investment dollars to yield hight quality and cost concise results.  Former Director Technical Services North West Airlines Training Corporation, building-equipping-staffing Federal Express training facility  and simulator design for American Airline Flight Training Academy.

 

DICK WHITCOMB 

Northeastern University, Boston MA, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Dick has over 30 years of management finance experience in both manufacturing and distribution companies. He was the VP Finance and CFO of Straumann USA from 1993 to 2004. Prior to joining Straumann, Dick was the Director of Finance for Hygeia Sciences, a biotech company that during his tenure grew from a start up and went through a successful IPO and became a leader in its field. Prior to Hygeia, Dick held financial management positions at Avery-Dennison. During his career Dick has been responsible for Finance, Human Resources, Risk Management and Information Technology.

 

STEPHEN N. DENTON

Mr. Denton has more than 33 years of aircraft maintenance and leadership experience involving all aspects of aircraft maintenance creating a safe, legally fit and with on-time availability. Offering a rare blend of balanced, creative and operational strengths, Stephen has achieved exciting results and is recognized for his success in building strategic alliances with partner airlines and maintenance centers. His approach to building these relationships is reflected in his 26 year career at FedEx while accomplishing all aspects of corporate aircraft maintenance on the Citation, Challenger, Lear 45 and Global Express including structural airframe engine and avionics. Advancement through the ranks culminated with a four year position in the FedEx Feeder Aircraft Operations with fleet technical oversight of seven partner airlines.  Stephen is actively involved with his church in various leadership roles.

 

MARK E. MEDVETZ
Major airline pilot, rated in the B-767 and B-757, Cessna Mustang, Cml. Rotorwing, Certified Flight Instructor, Marine Corps officer and KC-130 squadron commander, retired.  Experience includes executive service at a large aviation insurance underwriting company.  Cessna Mustang Type Rating.

 

ED HOWELL
Assistant Professor of Economics at Northwood University in West Palm Beach Florida, immersed in the economics of the VLJ business. Mr. Howell is President of Howell Management Group, Inc. and is also a solo pilot.

 

MARC LEWIS

Aviation Training Expert  with worldwide experience as a line pilot, long range navigation and ETOPS instructor and Check Airman. IOE. Line and Simulator check airman. ATP with B727.B747.B757.B767.
